Colors I associate with time spent in Thailand inspired this piece.

A technique I developed for aging metal leaf was used to transform copper into a medium (instead of an adhesive application). This achieves a reflection of depth, time and tradition in the final composition. Additionally, combined tools (pallet knives, soft brushes, porous sponges, etc) establish areas of intrigue, rest and agitation via contrasting textures.

Creative joy is when memory fuels the process and my heart (not my head) guides my hands. That is how I felt while making this painting and it led to the dream-like quality of the final composition.

Original artwork is on gallery-wrapped cotton canvas. Acrylic paint, additives and metal leaf are protected with a varnish coating. Artist’s signature is found on side edge.
