Have you ever fallen asleep to a storm and had the thunder impact your dream? In my life I have only woken to remember this a handful of times. This painting began on such a morning.

Additives create cracking and build course texture (similar to that of pumice stone). Pallet knives and large brushes layer and spread the paint while localized water treatments contribute a hazy feel.

This piece encapsulates a mood - a vague memory - and puts into visual reach an experience I cannot otherwise recreate. Making with my hands something that words could not convey or share is, for me, what being an artist is about.

Original artwork is on gallery-wrapped cotton canvas. Acrylic paint, additives and metal leaf are protected with a varnish coating. Artist’s signature is bottom left.
