Heavily influenced by my surroundings, to maintain a positive mood, mental state and world-view, I find peace and inspiration in natural settings. Water, mountains and snow inspire the cool and tranquil places in this painting, while the sun contributes warmth, shape and energy.

Pouring paint, scraping pallet knives, small impressionist brushwork and metal leaf application form this piece. Layers are added and partially removed resulting in a painting that looks almost naturally evolved.

A pleasure to create, in earlier states this painting would often sit untouched in my studio so that I could enjoy a favorite texture or blend. When inspiration struck, I would return for further development. This composition was never made in rush, but in restful giving of time.

This painting is representative of my artistic voice because both the texture and subject matter reflect the natural world.

Original artwork is on gallery-wrapped cotton canvas. Acrylic paint, additives and metal leaf are protected with a varnish coating. Artist’s signature is bottom right.
