A commissioned piece inspired by client’s wish to elaborate upon my painting “Another Morning”. As the owner of a medical spa, we strategized a transformation of the metal leaf in a way that would showcase the beauty and grace of aging.
A technique I developed for aging metal leaf was used to transform copper into a medium (instead of an adhesive application). This achieves a reflection of depth, time and tradition in the final composition. Additional steps were made to reflect the rose-gold aesthetic of his medical practice.
I welcome creative collaboration, and during this creative process client involvement developed into meaningful partnership. Through collaboration, client and I decided a triple-panel approach made sense for the physical space, and a combination of soft brush blending with pallet knife texturing harmonized with existing materials within the spa.
Helping the client actualize his vision, and contributing to the evolution of his initial idea, was a solidifying experience. Commissioned work is intrinsically personal. We share tremendous pride in what we achieve as client, as artists, and as a team.
Original artwork is on gallery-wrapped cotton canvas, and measures (panel one) 60 x 48 inches, (panel 2) 20 x 48 inches , (panel three) 6 x 48 inches. Acrylic paint, additives, metal leaf and reflective flakes are protected with a varnish coating. Artist’s signature is found on side edge of each panel.
Packaging receives the utmost care, involving layers of waterproofing, protective padding and reinforcement. Client chose to pick up the painting in person.
