A sister-piece to Another Morning, the brilliance of a rising sun also inspired this painting. A larger piece in scale, this painting allowed room to dramatize the rays of sunlight as they signal a new day.

Brushes laid the base-work, while pallet knives built the bricks. Sheets of gold leaf define the sun’s circle as it rises in the morning, and gold dust represents the warmth of its movement as it travels throughout the day.

The gold in this piece catches natural light, reflecting part of present day back to its viewer. During the creative process I thought about light and how it illuminates, how it reflects, and how it allows for shadow. I thought about the warmth it brings in contrast to the cool that exists in its void. I feel tremendous movement in this painting. It has a brilliance that causes excitement within me when I take it in.

Original artwork is on gallery-wrapped cotton canvas. Acrylic paint, additives and metal leaf are protected with a varnish coating. Artist’s signature is bottom right.
